8 fundamental concepts
1. Use beat squares to feel the beat…speak the rhythm syllables.
2. Learn 5 basic syllables: tikitiki, titi, ta, too, and toe.
3. Add an /m/ sound at the end dotted notes: tim, tahm, toom.
4. Touch beat squares to feel the down-beat and up-beat.
5. Learn syncopated rhythms (tahm-ti, and sin-co-pa).
6. Combine basic syllables (ti-tiki, tiki-ti, tim-ki).
7. Feel the difference between duple time vs. triple time as march vs. sway.
8. Use time signatures to determine duple vs. triple time.
