Description
Envisioning the grand staff as a picture can help students learn the note names. Simple melodies with pictures help music students learn many of the notes by sight making them better prepared to learn the language of music. In The Music Mountain children see the lines and spaces of bass and treble clef as “fences” at bass camp and the trouble cliffs of a great mountain. The notes of the C chord are each depicted as a snowman at various places along the fences. They learn the head of the C chord is G, the belly is E and C “we will call the feet,” and they remember where these snowmen are based on what they are doing.
